Job Description: 

The Machine Shop Machinist is responsible for machining parts for use in manufacturing medical devices. The Machine Shop Machinist runs high-speed machine tools such as drill presses, lathes, milling machines, boring machines and precision grinding machines used to mass-produce metal/steel parts. This position is responsible for placing the unfinished stock into the machine and operating the machine to bring the cutting tool or bit to the stock using levers, buttons, or foot pedals. The Machinists also correctly processes paperwork associated with the product, maintaining the product's identification and forwarding the product to the appropriate department in the production sequence. The Machinist is part of a team that rotates between different manual machinery manufacturing medical devices.

Responsibilities Include: 
  • Set up and operate machinery used in designing and machining dies used for manufacturing
  • Perform accurate inspections and verification of product
  • Safely operate and maintain various tools and machinery
  • Demonstrate basic skills in machine shop mathematics and blue print reading
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized area
  • Work with minimal supervision and direction
  • Work from drawings, process sheets, inspection and or customer spcificaitons, and instrucitions from supervisor
  • Operate machines or tooling as required and trained
  • Participates in "continuous improvement" activities within the department to ensure quality
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience: 
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a machinist in a medical manufacturing facility
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Basic blueprint reading skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Strong demonstrated commitment to teamwork
